'dieb13: turntables, electronics. Rose-red vinyl in embossed cardboard foldout sleeve ! Special audio/visual LP with cut image on Side B.#Side A ? audible: recorded, edited & mixed february-march 2013 by dieb 13. Side B ? visible: designed & programmed march 2013 by dieb 13. Mastered by Kassian Troyer. Sleeve design by Wendelin Buchler. Limited edition of 300 hand numbered copies. Since the late 1980s, dieb13 is one of the european key figures in the harnessing of tape players, vinyls, CDs, hard dics and IP protocols as instruments. It’s been a while since has has released his last Solo album.#After extensive touring and releasing CDs among others with Phil Minton, Mats Gustafsson and John Butcher Group, his latest solo output “trick17” is an enjoyment for both the ear and the eye. Side A (“audible”) is a 25 minute solo piece that he developed in an Ping Pong method between vinyl cutting machine and record turntable. It’s the drivation of its own and has the classical form of the first movement of a 19th century symphony. Strongly dynamic structured and full of surprises. A classical kind of turntable music. The B-Side (“visible”) whereas, sounds like noise, periodically cut into pieces. Its repetitive psychedelic spiral character contrasts with the classical structured A-Side and with continous listening one can fall into a trance-like state of mind. But only upon closer look the B-Side artwork reveals the reason for its name. What is audible, is also visible here, and vice versa. The image, reproduced on the surface of side B is the result of an artwork for which dieb13 has not just written the music but programmed also the software.#Dieter Kovacic is best-known as dieb13, but he has also performed and recorded under the monikers Takeshi Fumimoto, Echelon, Dieter Bohlen, and dieb14. He sprang into action in the late ’80s, as the Viennese avant-garde scene was picking up a momentum. Since then he is one of the european key figures in the harnessing of tape players, vinyls, CDs, hard dics and IP protocols as instruments. He is also involved in programming software for visualization of musical phenomena. His rare solo releases are complemented by a number of collaborations with the likes of Billy Roisz, Boris Hauf, Werner Dafeldecker, Martin Siewert, and Christof Kurzmann, all artists revolving mainly around the Viennese labels Charhizma and Durian.#Kovacic was born in 1973. He came to music from the DJ side, instead of a more traditional musical background. He began to tweak cassette players and turntables in the late ’80s, and later moved to the computer. In 1995, he applied for a studies program in electro-acoustic music at the Viennese College of Music, but was turned down. Ironically, his professional career started at#around the same time. His first self-release was a cassette with Stefan Geissler titled Lomophonien. He is the founder of the klingt.orgestra and runs the internet platform klingt.org.'br />
